Again, this week, a lot of news in the world of music! Music videos, tunes, concerts but also less happy news. Let’s go for our third Weekly Rewind!
This week’s music video: I Can’t Quit – The Vaccines
The Vaccines are back after their album English Graffiti, released in 2015. This spring, March 30th more precisely, they will release their fourth opus entitled, Sports Fights. The band composed by Justin Young, who has suffered some bad vibe these few years whose heated debate with its drummer Pete Robertson, has rebounded despite everything. To wait a little longer, the formation released a few days ago a first extract of their upcoming album, I Can’t Quit. The tune has been joined by music video to illustrate the song which is a mix of pop, also reminiscent of the band’s rock influences. The Vaccines will be in concert as support acts for Franz Ferdinand, on February 27th at Le Zénith de La Villette in Paris.
This week’s announcement : Jack White in Paris this summer
At the beginning of the year 2018, many artists have already planned their agenda and are gradually revealing their next dates. Nevertheless, some make us more impatient than others! This is the case of The White Stripes‘ leader Jack White who will return to France for two exceptional dates this summer on July 3rd and 4th at L’Olympia in Paris. An event you musn’t miss!
This week’s release : Hold On To Your Heart – The XCERTS
This is the album we were waiting for! We are so in love with The XCERTS’ new album Hold On To Your Heart, which turns out to be a feel-good, romantic record with some life lessons. Four very good singles have preceded its release, and we strongly recommend you to check them out!
This week’s title : Cheetah Tongue – The Wombats
The Wombats unveiled a new tune last Wednesday entitled Cheetah Tongue. This song was explained to British magazine NME by frontman Matthew Murphy: “is a song about dealing with the pressures of adulthood and failing miserably. The opening song on the album and probably the most psychedelic.” We look forward to discovering Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, which its release is scheduled on February 9th.
This week’s bad news : The death of Dolores O’Riordan
It was a real shock and we had to mention it in this Weekly Rewind: The Cranberries singer, Dolores O’Riordan died suddenly on January 15th in London while she was in recording session. Her disappearance caused a great deal of emotion among the band’s fans but also many artists who paid tribute to the latter throughout the week. It is today that the singer is buried in her hometown of Limerick in Ireland.
This week’s surprise : Tom Hardy is a rapper !
Indeed, British actor Tom Hardy proves to be a fan of rap and recorded an album in 1999, which was discovered last Friday on the internet. Entitled Falling On Your Ass In 1999, this opus allows us to discover that great hidden talent of the then 22-year-old actor on 18 songs with melodies influenced by jazz and hip-hop. Although the surprise is total for some, Tom Hardy had already talked about his past as a rapper indicating that he had begun rapping while he was 14-15 years old. Actor, model, singer and also advocate animal, what a man!
