Playlist of the Week #523 min de lecture

par Jennifer

For this playlist of the week, I wanted to make you listen to songs that have been in my headphones for a long time now. I think you will be able to travel with this musical selection.

Utopia Finale – Cristobal Tapia de Veer

I discovered this title by watching the TV show Utopia a few years ago, as its name suggests. At first, I had trouble listening to it, finding a scary side in Christobal Tapia de Veer‘s choice of sounds of . After listening to it several times, I could not live without it. And even if I always find a scary side, the pleasure of listening takes over and this stressful and dancing mixture of notes forms a sublime harmony.

Pretty Pimpin – Kurt Vile

Kurt Vile is the kind of artist I like to listen to in transport. His independent rock music makes me want to travel with each of his notes. Pretty Pimpin is one of his most well-known songs. Its vintage side often reminds me of tunes that my parents could make me listen to when we were on the roads of holidays. I think that people who like to be on the road and simple and effective music, will become fans of Kurt Vile.

Fast As You – Dwight Yoakam

Now it’s time to get out of his way and get down to the country with this piece of Dwight Yoakam, Fast As You. Once again, it’s the kind of music I listen to mostly, but rarely at home. However, I love this song but I can not listen to it when I’m still. This is the description of a good and true country title. If like me you like to dance alone in your room, at home or even better, in your head, taking public transportation, Fast As You is for you!

Take the Long Way Home – Roger Hodgson

This playlist is a trip. Even if we are not in summer, we can still let ourselves be transported by music. And if you’re lucky, continue exploring cities around the world. Take the Long Way Home is a classic title of Roger Hodgson, member of Supertramp. I listened to the band’s music again thanks to my parents who are fans. And it’s good to find tunes of our childhood, which fill our spirit of magic and memories.

The House Of Rising Sun – The Animals

I write this playlist and I realize that I could almost call it “The Playlist of the Week, road trip memories special”. The House Of Rising Sun is also a tune that I like a lot and that carries a nice place in my heart with lots of my travel memories. This will remind you a song by a great French singer who left us a year ago. If you manage to detach yourself from the French version, you can let yourself be transported to West America and its landscapes.

What I Like About You – The Romantics

Impossible to not recognize this hit by The Romantics. You’ve probably heard it in many romantic comedies. What I Like About You is the kind of song that gets me in a good mood after only a few guitar chords. Is this the case for you too?

Iron Sky – Paolo Nutini

It’s one of my acquaintances who sent me this song, which I had not listened to for years. I have been an admirer of Paolo Nutini but with time I kinda detached myself from his universe. What a mistake ! While listening to Iron Sky, lots of memories come back to my face, and that’s exactly the kind of emotion I’m looking for when I listen to music. We must also admit that this live version is a treasure. Paolo’s voice and the incredible musicians around him make this session a memorable one.
